How do we recognize an Organic product?
An Organic product contains the Cosmebio label. This label guarantees that a minimum of 95% of all the ingredients are of natural origin, that 95% of vegetal ingredients are Organic, and that a minimum of 10% of all ingredients in the final product (including non-certifiable water, often in the majority) are Organic. These percentages are always indicated clearly on packaging, following the complete product formula.
Our products go further than the Cosmebio label: they contain 100% ingredients of natural origin.
I saw on your site that you referred to Cosmebio, what is it?
Following the shortage of legislation concerning natural cosmetology, an association of cosmetics manufacturers collaborated with Ecocert, an independent certifying body, to develop strict guidelines and offer consumers effective and non-toxic cosmetic products, composed of natural and certified organic ingredients. The guidelines are :
• 95% of natural ingredients with a particular maximum of Organic ingredients
• Complete and transparent information
• Production processes and rejects must respect the environment
• A commitment to durable development and fair trade
• 2 labels
Are natural products as effective as products containing chemical ingredients?
Our skin is perfectly familiar with natural products; their active elements have been known and used by people for thousands of years. In natural and organic products, all substances a beneficial to the skin, whereas in a classic cosmetic product a large part of the ingredients are used only to give texture, aroma or colour…pleasing for the consumer. 100% natural Organic products are not altered by chemical preservatives, which for some of us are irritating and allergenic, for others they are potentially dangerous. Be particularly careful about phenoxyethanol, parabens and formaldehyde!
What dangers do chemical ingredients represent?
We know now that our skin is not a barrier; it’s rather a filter that substances pass through. Evidence has shown that chemical compounds coming from cosmetics such as aluminium from anti-perspiration products, parabens (the most commonly used preservatives), bezophenone 3 from chemical sun filters, by-products from petrol (paraffin, glycerin) have all been found in the body's blood or the tissue...Prudence is therefore needed in the choice of ingredients, which shouldn’t clog up our pores (our skin needs to breathe) nor damage our health!
Your products don’t contain preservatives, does that mean they don’t last for long?
Our products don’t contain any chemical preservatives. However they’re not devoid of all preservatives. We use our knowledge and savoir-faire in the use of essential oils: wisely chosen and dosed, they aid in the preservation of the product. Moreover, we use only tubes and packaging to create an effective barrier. Tests have proven the efficiency of this form of preservation.
Once open, the tube can be kept for 3 to 4 months.
Have the products been tested on animals?
None of our products have been tested on animals, out of respect for the living world.
We carry out skin and ocular tolerance tests on volunteers for 48 hours, or on a cell culture, to ensure the safety of the product.
